Is Clearbit Still Available? What Changed After HubSpot

Editorial team · Updated 2026-10-14 · 5 min read

Clearbit as a standalone product is mostly gone. HubSpot acquired it in late 2023, ended the free tools in 2025, shut down the free Logo API in December 2025 and now offers enrichment as Breeze Intelligence inside paid HubSpot plans. Existing API contracts reportedly continue, but new self-serve API access appears closed.

A dated timeline

Date Event Source type
Late 2023 HubSpot acquires Clearbit and folds it into HubSpot as Breeze Intelligence BusinessMCP comparison page
April 30, 2025 Free Clearbit platform, weekly visitor report and Clearbit Connect listed as ending HubSpot community post
December 2025 Free Logo API shut down (December 1 or 8, depending on the HubSpot source) HubSpot developer and community posts
September 2026 A teardown reportedly finds no new self-serve API signups Cited by BusinessMCP

Treat the dates as approximate where sources disagree. HubSpot’s own channels give two different Logo API shutdown dates, and a third-party blog says Clearbit Connect closed earlier than April 2025. None of that changes the direction of travel.

What “available” means for each piece

The question hides several products, and each has a different answer.

  • Enrichment API. BusinessMCP’s comparison reports that existing contracts still run, with no published end date, and that new self-serve signups were not found. HubSpot staff, quoted in a community thread, said Breeze offers equivalent features inside the CRM but not via API.
  • Free tools. Ended on April 30, 2025, per HubSpot’s announcement.
  • Logo API. Shut down, see our logo guide.
  • Reveal, Forms and similar features. Rebuilt or retired depending on tier. See Clearbit Reveal alternatives and Clearbit Forms alternatives.

Key takeaway: if you cannot find a pricing page or a signup button, that is information. Ask your account contact in writing and plan as if the integration may end.

What existing API users should do now

Having a working key is not the same as having a future. Without a published end date, the sensible response is quiet preparation rather than panic.

  1. Inventory every place that calls Clearbit: services, scripts, CRM automations, spreadsheet add-ons.
  2. Record which fields each caller actually reads. Most use fewer than they receive.
  3. Ask your contact whether your contract has a term, a renewal date and a notice period.
  4. Choose a candidate replacement and run it in parallel on a sample. The migration guide walks through this.
  5. Put the vendor call behind a single function so the cut-over is small.

If you are a HubSpot customer

You may be in the best position. The comparison page says Breeze enrichment is included in paid Marketing, Sales, Service, Data and Content Hub subscriptions, and standard enrichment does not consume HubSpot Credits. Smart CRM and Revenue Hub reportedly require Professional or above. Check your own tier and the exact feature list before assuming coverage.

If you are not on HubSpot

You have two choices: pay for a HubSpot seat you do not otherwise need, or pick a standalone data source. The cheapest HubSpot route listed on the comparison page is Sales Hub Starter at $20 per seat per month, or $15 billed annually, with introductory prices showing lower. A standalone alternative such as BusinessMCP’s company data API bills per found company at $0.02 with a one-time $5 trial credit and no commitment. It does not return revenue, funding or technographic fields, by its own admission.

The pricing detail for both routes is in our pricing breakdown.

What to verify yourself

This article summarises public statements and one vendor’s comparison page. Facts about another company’s product are only as good as their sources, and policies shift. Before a purchasing decision:

  • Read HubSpot’s current Breeze Intelligence documentation.
  • Ask for terms in writing if you hold a legacy contract.
  • Re-check dates; we have flagged where sources disagree.

The honest summary: Clearbit the brand lives on inside HubSpot, Clearbit the independent API vendor does not accept new customers in any way we could confirm, and the market has moved to other providers. For a broader map, start at the home page or read how to choose an enrichment API.

Communicating the change inside your company

If Clearbit sits in your stack, the change is a business question as much as a technical one. A short internal note avoids surprises.

  1. Say what you rely on: which services, which teams and which fields.
  2. State what you know and what you do not. Existing contracts reportedly continue, with no published end date, but you have no guarantee beyond your own terms.
  3. Name the replacement plan and the date you will decide.
  4. Assign an owner for the vendor test and the migration.

Finance will want a comparison of costs. Engineering will want a field map. Sales will want to know whether lead routing changes. A one-page document that answers all three prevents the situation where the integration breaks during a campaign and nobody remembers who owned it.

Where to look for current information

Policies shift, so treat this page as a snapshot. For the current state, check HubSpot’s own developer changelog and knowledge base, your account contact, and your contract. For a comparison from a company that sells an alternative, the Clearbit API alternative page sets out its reading of the situation with dates, and notes its own limits next to its features. Read it alongside HubSpot’s material, and if two sources disagree, believe the one you can confirm in writing.

Frequently confused points

Three misunderstandings come up repeatedly. First, “Clearbit shut down” is too strong: parts of it live on inside HubSpot, and existing API contracts reportedly continue. Second, “Breeze Intelligence is the new Clearbit API” is wrong for external developers, since HubSpot staff said it does not offer enrichment through an API. Third, “Free tools are gone, so enrichment must be expensive” overlooks pay-per-call alternatives, which charge per found record with no seat. See our free alternatives roundup for what is available at no cost.
